House passes massive infrastructure bill Pingree calls ‘blueprint for green, 21st century economy’
The U.S. House cleared a massive $1.5 trillion package Wednesday that backers said would not only shore up the nation’s crumbling infrastructure but also create jobs at a time of widespread unemployment, protect the planet from a warming climate and narrow long-standing racial disparities.
Pingree pointed out how beneficial the bill is for Maine in particular as the state is ranked one of the worst in the nation for high-speed broadband with over 300 bridges classified as structurally deficient.
