Senate Majority Leader Libby Mitchell hosted a house party at her home in Vassalboro for Chellie on Friday, May 2. Libby was Speaker of the House when Chellie was in the Senate.
The party took place on a gorgeous day. The Mitchells live on a farm and keep horses. The guests at the party were glad to have Chellie in Kennebec County, since it's not as heavily visited by candidates as the more populated counties such as Cumberland and
York.
After the Mitchells' party in Vassalboro, Chellie traveled on to Hallowell for a small dinner party hosted by Rep. Sharon Treat and Bob Collins. This was a fun opportunity for Chellie to reconnect with some longtime friends. The guests included Hon. Beverly Bustin-Hatheway (who served in the Senate for years, including Chellie's first two terms) and her husband Darwin Hatheway; Christine & Warren Bartlett; Jean Grigsby; and Joan Sturmthal.
Much of the conversation revolved around experiences working with or meeting Chellie in the past, which gave her a chance to reflect on her work in the Senate with
people like Libby, Sharon and Beverly.
