Terry and Jacob Gerritsen invited a crowd of friends to their home in Camden to meet Chellie. Listen to Chellie's speech at the Gerritsen party by clicking on the video below.
Chellie was quoted in the Portland Press Herald on Friday, June 29th, speaking at the FCC hearing on localism in Portland on Thursday:
After describing how the consolidation of local radio stations in the midcoast has limited the amount of news and public service broadcasting in the region, Pingree called on the commission to take action.
"I believe that there is much damage to be undone," she said. The comment drew the longest period of applause of the night.

Thanks to all of you who came out on Friday to help kick-off this campaign! The day included stops in Rockland, Portland, Alfred and Wells - 4 of the 125 towns in the first district that I will visit during the campaign.
We visited locations that highlighted some of the themes of our campaign - like supporting local Maine businesses, protecting the environment and, of course, working together to end the war in Iraq as soon as possible. We travelled to cities and small towns. We saw some of my old friends and earliest supporters in Knox County, a great group in Portland (including my son, Asa and my grandson, Smith!), and some new friends at a beautiful, organic farm in Alfred. We ended the day with supper at a great restaurant in Wells run by old friends the Mathers.
Talking to so many of you on Friday reminded me of why I'm embarking on this campaign - I am running to represent the people of Maine's 1st Congressional District because there couldn't be a more important time to be a Member of Congress. The misguided, tragic war in Iraq must be stopped and we must repair the damage done to America's respect and standing in the world. Americans deserve a real solution to the health care crisis; the path toward real universal health care has been obstructed for far too long.
For the sake of our environment, our economy, and our national security, we need to end our dependence on foreign oil, and take immediate steps to curb greenhouse gas emissions. The people of Maine - folks just like you - are demanding proactive leadership to meet these challenges. And, together, you and I can be catalysts for the change we desperately need in Washington.
I look forward to this important campaign and I hope to see you out on the trail!
